We’re moving quickly. Lace 2.4 is here.
Just a week after our last release, we’re back with another round of improvements across DApps, Midnight, swaps and hardware wallets.
This one is about giving you more clarity when you’re signing, making DApp interactions more reliable and making Midnight easier to use.
Here’s what’s new.
Know what your swap is doing
We’ve made the swap review screen more useful.
Instead of just showing the quote, you can now see what the transaction actually does before you confirm it.
You’ll see:
- What leaves your wallet
- The transaction fee
- Where your order goes
- What’s held as collateral
- When the transaction expires
The idea is simple: give you more context before you sign.
We’ve also fixed the amount shown for the token you’re receiving so it uses the correct number of decimal places, and fixed an issue where the footer could overlap the review and result screens when scrolling.
DApp signing, made clearer
We’ve made dApp signing more reliable and, importantly, clearer when something doesn’t go as expected.
If Lace can’t sign something a DApp has requested, you’ll now be told what happened and why instead of the request simply disappearing.
Signing requests are now handled properly from start to finish, including when a DApp tab has been cached, closed or disconnected.
When several requests come through, they’re queued and shown one at a time. Approving or declining one no longer affects another, and a request won’t appear as declined before you’ve even seen it.
We’ve also made sure a request only shows as successful once the signature is actually in place.
If something goes wrong, the error is now shown in the signing window rather than the window simply closing. And if one DApp loses its connection, it won’t block other connected DApps.
Improved Midnight Experience
There are several Midnight improvements in Lace 2.4.
Syncing is now more reliable, with each wallet’s state stored separately. Sync progress also reflects the slowest part of the process rather than the fastest, giving you a clearer picture of where things are.
Shielded wallets now sync through the standard Midnight SDK event stream, and the remote proof server option has been removed from Midnight settings.
You can also expand a Midnight send to see the raw transaction data before confirming it.
Coming shortly after release
You’ll also soon be able to generate DUST from a Cardano account holding cNIGHT.
You’ll be able to choose the Midnight account or address, review the transaction before confirming it, and change the target or stop from the same screen.
We’ll share more as this becomes available.
Midnight activity, cleaned up
We’ve also fixed a range of issues across Midnight transactions and activity.
Transactions that partially succeed now show their final Send or Receive state. Transfers to yourself are labelled clearly, rows with no value no longer appear as “unknown”, and transactions waiting to finalise no longer show an incorrect pending activity row.
Sending several tokens in a single transaction now sends them all as expected.
If stored data becomes unreadable, Lace can now rebuild it rather than leaving it unusable. Sync failures are also retried and surfaced instead of stopping quietly.
New accounts no longer risk having empty transaction history saved over their own history, and Midnight sheets can now scroll to their full height.
A little more hardware wallet support
Lace 2.4 adds support for the latest V8 version of the Cardano app on Ledger.
We’ve also updated hardware wallet import screens to make one important thing clear: importing a recovery phrase creates a software wallet, not a hardware wallet.
A few more fixes
Failed blockchain data requests can now retry properly, including requests that previously said they were retrying without actually doing so.
Cardano activity amounts are now calculated from the transaction’s own inputs and outputs.
And if you walk away from a collateral signing prompt, it no longer blocks later transactions in the same wallet.
