Lace x University of Zurich Blockchain Center: Equipping the Next Generation of Blockchain Builders

Something exciting is happening in Zurich, and it started with a conversation in Buenos Aires.

We’re thrilled to announce that Lace wallet is now the official wallet for the University of Zurich's "Deep Dive into Blockchain" program, run through the UZH Blockchain Center. This isn't just a logo on a syllabus. It's a real, hands-on integration that puts Lace at the heart of how the next wave of blockchain professionals learns, practices, and grows.

What the program covers

With this partnership, students work through distributed systems, consensus mechanisms, blockchain architecture, and the economic and legal frameworks that shape the industry. It's rigorous, research-backed, and designed to produce graduates who genuinely understand how blockchain works, using hands-on practice.

‘The Lace team showed great flexibility of the underlying code by linking the wallet to our network. For us it is of fundamental importance that the students have a real-world experience when interacting with our networks. Lace and IOG did an amazing job at bringing a modern experience to our UZH Cardano network. We want the students to transact, stake, delegate, vote. We want an unifying experience to deliver a deeper understanding of the Cardano ecosystem.’ - Claudio J. Tessone, PhD in Physics and Chairman of the UZH Blockchain Center.

What students actually do with Lace

Students download Lace Wallet and use it throughout their coursework on UZHCARDANO, the University's dedicated Cardano-based testnet. The testnet acts as a safe environment to practice: all the real mechanics of blockchain, without real-world stakes. By the time they finish the program, students are ready to interact with the Cardano mainnet as confident, informed participants.

That means real new users. Real transactions. Organic growth, earned through education.

Buenos Aires, where academia met blockchain innovation

The collaboration was born at IOG's Universities Day in Buenos Aires, a moment where academia and blockchain innovation met in the same room and found common ground.

From there, the Lace Mobile engineering team in Buenos Aires team, and Lace researchers worked closely together to make the technical integration a reality. We’d like to thank Mauro Andreoli and Lucas Machiavelli for making this partnership possible and for all their great work around Cardano and Midnight.

Lace is proud to be at the forefront of decentralized education.

The bigger picture

Web3 grows when the people building it and using it truly understand it. Partnerships like this one matter because they create informed, capable users who bring real value to the ecosystem.
